Binational Health Week (BHW) 2008

We would like to take this opportunity to present you the Binational Health Week (BHW), which is a collaborative effort between the Institute for Mexicans Abroad (IME), the California-Mexico Health Initiative (CMHI), Mexico’s Secretariat of Foreign Affairs and Secretariat of Health, the Mexican Institute of Social Security, the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. Mexico Border Health Commission, states’ Department of Health Services, Latinos Unidos de Columbus, GA. Inc., and more than 1,200 volunteers. Over 350 community-based organizations have endorsed this effort.

Since its inception in 2001, BHW has expanded from 7 California counties to 27 U.S. states and 3 Canadian Provinces, as well as 28 of the 32 and 395 in Mexico, Furthermore, 286 of the total of 790 health events celebrated in U.S. and Canada were celebrated at the 45 Mexican Consulates.

This year, the Eight Binational Health Week will take place October 11th from noon to 6:00 pm in Columbus, GA., and it is expected to benefit thousands of underserved workers and their families in Mexico, U.S., and Canada.
